Can this A.I. do my Finance Job?

Finance is kind of hard, man.

Sometimes, I just want to lay back, play video games, and ask a robot to analyze a hundred-page company report for me.

But wait… I think I can actually do that!

So, I’ve looked into some new open-source AI projects that would enable me to connect my documents to AI models.

And as a broke-ass millennial who can’t afford OpenAI’s API, I’ve used this free model called Groovy, which can run locally on my cheap laptop.

This model is awesome because it also ensures that we don’t leak privy top-secret info onto the internet, which is kind of important when dealing with financial data.

To test it out, I’ve used PDF reports from two publicly traded corporations.

After feeding our AI approximately 300 pages of pure, unadulterated corporate jargon, I asked our Robo-Analyst some financial questions about the companies.

To be honest with you, the results were not that great. Most of the time, it provided inaccurate analysis.

I’m not sure if it’s because of my prompt, the database structure, or the small model used, which was essentially compressed to run on a laptop.

Anyway, I believe that with some additional tweaks and optimization, we will eventually get this thing running smoothly!
